You get what you ask for, and I asked for help with baking.

E is finally growing enough hair to get in her face. We can't bear to cut it off yet, and we don't know if she would countenance such an offense, so instead we have intermittent minor skirmishes in the Hair Clip War.

"hey, I just found this cool toy in my hair!"

. . . aaaaand here's the result of putting the clip back in,

Mushroom watch 2012!

As you can see, the mushrooms started to flatten out, even as new ones were poking through the grass.

I believe that is 6 inches tall (16ish cm for you metric-heads) where they topped out. For a while there, every time we entered or left the house, Eleanor said "hi mushrooms!" or "bye-bye mushrooms!" I don't remember the actual syllables she substituted for the word "mushroom," but you'll have to take my word for it that's what she meant.

Now the mushrooms have gotten mowed down, so there will be no more posts about them this year. Perhaps there will be more mycological mysteries in the spring!

dinner tonight

Took the hot squash ("quash") out of the oven, put the mitt down for a minute, turned around, and:

Yum.

Where did these come from???

And where are the gnomes???

The lawn was moved on Monday . . . these photos were taken on Thursday afternoon.  These mushrooms are about five inches tall.  How did they get here?
