We've been in the new house for over a week now.  We're still all sleeping downstairs until we find a baby gate for the unusually-shaped upstairs hallway, but otherwise we're settling in.

This first week has been full of tiny surprises: goldfinches, a kestrel, a shooting star.  I often think of van der Rohe's phrase, "god is in the details" . . .  well, there are many details to discover on this hill.  The camera got separated from its cords and batteries in the move, but they've all been reunited and we'll add photos soon.

Summer around here happens on the porch.  We hang out at the park and the hiking trail and the berry patch too, but the porch is home base.

And here's a link to the same shot from last year.  Kid, you have grown.

May trip to DC

So we got the cousins together last month. Turns out they're both kind of funny-looking.

They really enjoyed sitting across the table from one another

It was about as gross as it looks.

Clearly this picture is not recent, as she is eating wood chips.

Now E much prefers food to nonfood. Like popsicles!

A spring montage . . .

Look, Jill visited!

Left in the care of some very capable Quaker youth, Eleanor was crowned the "Princess of London."
I don't get it either.

Get in the swing, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

Eleanor has been letting go of the furniture more and more as walking has become the preferred mode of transportation. Though it can probably better be described as "wildly careening."

In her defense, it WAS just sitting there with all the other edible lunch foods.
